Hey there, travelpreneur!
I had planned to launch my new course Pitch Alchemy this week - but life had other plans…
I’m not sure what it is but my energy levels have been super low lately.
It may be…
Creative burnout from trying to work on 3 different businesses at once.
Feeling like I’m behind when it comes to my work.
Or the AI revolution and the fact that high-paying writing jobs have drastically decreased (don’t worry - I still sourced some good ops for you).
It could be…
A teething toddler who keeps me up all night.
Worry about our first cross-continent flight with him.
Or that we’re right in the middle of Eclipse Season and Mercury Retrograde.
Likely it’s a wicked combination of all these factors. Regardless, Pitch Alchemy is not yet ready to be released to the public.
The thing is, the content is good. Like really good. Useful. Practical.
But I feel like the value of this content is heavily reliant on the energy I put into it; especially the audio recordings.
If my energy is lacking, you’ll notice. It will affect how you consume the content. It may even prevent you from taking action on what you learn.
In terms of managing your workload and planning your tasks, time is often given the most emphasis.
It seems like a logical approach - you calculate whether you have enough hours to complete a project, and that determines your schedule.
However, this approach overlooks an important factor that greatly impacts creative work: energy. Even though the clock may say that you have plenty of time to finish a project, your brain, motivation, and creative energy might not agree.
That’s the situation I’ve been in over the past week: where I've had enough time on paper to finish Pitch Alchemy, but I lacked the energy and inspiration to complete it to my satisfaction.
While it's possible to force yourself through the process, it's not a pleasant experience and the end result often suffers. So instead of ignoring my energy levels, I've learned to pay attention to them. I've accepted that sometimes, a task simply won't get done on a given day, and that's okay.
My point with this intro is to encourage you to take stock of your energy levels and how they have a direct impact on the quality of your creative output.
Listen to your body. Take a break. Step outside. Dance. Go for a swim. Give yourself some grace - you’re a human being, not a machine and that is your magic!
How have YOU been feeling lately?
Now that I’ve said my piece, let’s dive into… the final tip in my post-pandemic pitching series. Remember, if you ever want to go deeper into these pitching tips or need some extra guidance, we can work together 1-on-1!
Post Pandemic Pitching Tip #8 (PPPT#8)
Are you keen to score some sweet sponsorship opportunities with Tourism Boards? Well, I'm here to tell you that it's all about being strategic in your pitch!
Sure, you could send out open-ended pitches and get a free City Card for public transport and entrance to attractions.
But let's be real - that's not exactly the stuff of dreams, is it?
To really make the most out of your Tourism Board sponsorship, you need to be specific about what you want. After all, they have direct contact with hotels, restaurants, and tour companies.
So, why not make use of their connections?
When pitching to a Tourism Board, make sure to state exactly what you need for your visit. If you're looking for accommodation, say so. If you've already landed a hotel sponsorship but need some help with food and drink, ask them to connect you with partner restaurants that are open to collaboration.
By being specific about what you need, you'll avoid getting generic offers and increase your chances of getting the sponsorship you actually want.
Personally, I like to pitch and negotiate hotel sponsorships first before reaching out to the Tourism Board for assistance with specific tours or meals (if needed).
But if you're a new travel creator and struggling to land hotel sponsorships, going through the Tourism Board may be a great way to secure accommodation.
So, remember: when it comes to Tourism Board sponsorships, be strategic, be specific, and make the most out of their connections.
