Happy April, fellow traveler!
We’re back from a lovely but quick stay in the Mother City and now that I’m back home I can definitely feel that autumn chill in the air…
Luckily, we’re heading to warmer climates next month when we start our month-long trip around Europe!
With that in mind, I’ve adjusted the coming schedule for this newsletter:
April - Post-Pandemic Pitching Tips Continued (I have so much more to share and will be releasing my Pitch Alchemy course later this month to complement The Pitch Vault released last month).
May & June - Just The Good Stuff (the newsletter will also be on a 4-week hiatus from mid-May to mid-June as I wander around medieval towns and magical forests).
July & August - Exciting Guest Contributors (will share more about what you can expect soon).
Post Pandemic Pitching Tip #5 (PPPT#5)
Do you want to know the secret sauce to landing sponsorships with hotels?
It's simple - follow-ups!
Yes, that's right, you heard me correctly. Follow-up emails are where the magic happens.
As an experienced travel writer, I can tell you that 80% of my sponsorships are confirmed after sending at least one follow-up email.
That's a staggering number, but it's true.
Only 20% of my sponsorships are confirmed without me needing to send a follow-up.
Most people struggle to land sponsorships because they give up after sending only one email.
But, it's those who are brave enough to follow up that make the magic happen.
Sending a follow-up email is not about being pushy, rude, demanding, or entitled. It's a gentle nudge to remind the hotel/brand about what you can do for them. Most of the decision-makers are busy people with an inbox full of emails to reply to in addition to their other responsibilities.
A follow-up is a simple, short, and sweet email that ends with a prompt to respond. 💌
And guess what? The numbers don't lie.
My response rate for my first pitch email is between 25%-50%, depending on the destination. However, this rate increases to 50%-75% after sending a follow-up email.
If you're not sure what to say in your follow-up or proposal emails, then fear not!
The Pitch Vault has got you covered with specially designed pitch templates for all travel creators and any type of situation.
So, don't be afraid to follow up and make magic happen! 🪄
